| Summary: | In contrast to the Soviet period of development of society, when the Church as a specific institution could or publicly declare its solidarity with the official position of the state and society, it is compelled to remain silent or to be content with the reproduction of the mood of the relatively small part of the citizens who then identified themselves as believers, the Church of the period of Ukraine's independence, becoming a truly independent, sovereign, representative institution, has grounds to be, and in many cases, a spokesman for the sentiment in Ukrainian society, declaring at the same time their position in relation to such manifestations of social well-being. На противагу радянському періоду розвитку суспільства, коли Церква як специфічна інституція могла або публічно заявляти про свою солідарність з офіційною позицією держави і соціуму, вимушено мовчати чи вдовольнятися відтворенням настроїв тієї порівняно невеликої частини громадян, які тоді ідентифікували себе як віруючі, Церква періоду незалежності України, ставши дійсно самостійним, суверенним, представницьким інститутом, має підстави бути і в багатьох випадках є виразником настроїв в українському суспільстві, декларуючи при цьому свою позицію щодо таких виявів суспільного самопочуття. |
