Description
Summary:Arturo Carlo Jemolo Founder of the Institute and Library of Public Law in the Faculty of Jurisprudence of the Royal University of Rome. Part one (1936-1938) · This article arises from the need to reconstruct the events that led to the creation of the Institute and the Library of Public Law, inextricably linked, which germinated thanks precisely to Arturo Carlo Jemolo’s input. The University City of Rome was inaugurated between 31 October and 1 November 1935, and for 1936-1938 Jemolo was called upon to direct the Institute of Public Law, in the Faculty of Jurisprudence, and to oversee the shaping of the connected Library, as there had been no similar complex before then. The genesis of the Library and of the Institute of Public Law began in early 1937, but took shape only in late 1938. This contribution offers access to unpublished documents for an investigation of archival-historical nature (partly linked to Jemolo’s biography) that may be of assistance to students and scholars alike.
