Description
Résumé:This article focuses on the political phenomenon known as 'political Islam', its birth and evolution in the north-western Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia), analysing its ideological sources, with the aim of creating a state of the question of its current impact, as well as a forecast for the future, in Spain. In particular, the development of political Islam and its instrumentalisation by parties and associations, as well as the Moroccan state, will be analysed in the context of the domestic politics of these countries. Subsequently, it will focus on the phenomenon of the instrumentalisation of migration in relation to Muslim political identity in Spain in comparison to other European neighbours. Finally, the current impact and, above all, the future possibilities of political Islam as a decision-making factor in the configuration of governments at different levels in Spain will be presented.
