| Summary: | Theory and research related to social movements, collective behavior, and recruitment into religious movements and organizations were used to generate hypotheses concerning attendance at a Billy Graham Crusade. Specifically it was hypothesized that attendance at a Crusade was a function of the extent to which local churches made efforts to mobilize their congregations. Data were gathered from local church pastors concerning efforts made to promote attendance and the proportion of the congregation which attended the Crusade. Results generally supported the hypotheses. |
