Description
Summary:The landed property of regulars in Zamora in the eighteenth century: By studying the collection books and land registries of the Zamora convents the typology of the landed property of the regulars is analysed. The main conclusions of this study are the limited size of the single estates, their uneven location in the area of the diocese, the great differences among the regulars' patrimonies and the weight of clerical property in the exploitation relations of the land. The origins of property titles show that the convents’ patrimony was formed mainly by means of sales contracts, and secondarily thanks to endowments and donations. The Eighteenth Century was a very advantageous period to the formation of the regulars' property.
