| Summary: | The diakonate lives uncomfortably; even though it is legitimated by Papal Teaching, it is held tightly between the dyads bishop/priest and layperson/consecrated. Its difficulty in «finding place» may lead to complaints or can be recognized as a sign of its utopian and prophetic character, a stimulus for the renovation of the Church. However, the phenomenon of «liturgization» and «parrocchialization» testifies to the fact that a process of normalization is under way at least in Italy. An approach to complexity is necessary in order to affront the theological, pastoral, family related, professional, and relational dynamics associated with this ministry; the new opportunities of post-modern times can favour (or providentially require) their evangelical comprehension. |
