Zusammenfassung:The Old English Gloria I has usually been read (or not read) as an uninteresting and uninspired paraphrase. When read in the spirit of the Caedmonian rumination, however, it becomes clear that the poem is in fact a meditation on God's work in the created order. As such, it touches on one of the great and enduring themes of Catholic theology - a theme enunciated most recently in Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si'.
