Considering economic growth as a guarantee for its institutional autonomy in its relations with the state, the church has always tried to rationalize and modernize its economic activities and thereby keep its societal influence intact. | ||

Une attention particulière est portée aux activités économiques et au statut de l’Église dans l’entre-deux-guerres. L’étude des archives offre une base de comparaison stimulante avec les transformations de l’économie de l’Église pendant le régime communiste ainsi qu’avec le rétablissement du potentiel économique de l’Église orthodoxe bulgare après l’effondrement du régime totalitaire en 1989. De même, l’article examine les sources majeures de revenues de l’Église et les modalités de leur dépense au temps de l'État bulgare moderne. Considérant la croissance économique comme une garantie de son autonomie institutionnelle dans ses relations avec l'État, l'Église a toujours essayé de rationaliser et de moderniser ses activités économiques afin de garder intacte son influence dans la société. | ||
