Der Beitrag konzentriert sich auf die Fundplätze Khafaja und Tell Asmar. Diese wurden umfangreich ausgegraben und erlauben eine topographische Analyse für das 3. Jahrtausend v. Chr. Der erste untersuchte Aspekt ist die Entstehung und die Entwicklung der Stadtgrundrisse. Hier lassen sich Unterschiede aufzeigen.
