Description
Summary:This article offers some routes to interpreting the voice of victims of abuse within the church as an authentic theological site. First, it examines the dynamics of silence and speech which defines the experience of sexual abuse and contributes to its devaluation, before moving on to consider the idea of identifying of the crucified Christ with the victims, as a possible way of rediscovering the voice of God, which speaks through the survivors of sexual violence in the church. Both of these routes construct necessary avenues which can help to situate the truths of those who have survived abuses in the heart of future theological action.
