C. ‘smith’)가 있었다면, 미국에는 차이를 강조하는 유대교-유대교들, 교회-교회들 개념을 공고히 한 조너선 지텔 ‘대장장이’(J. Z. ‘smith’)가 있었다. Religious studies have come out of the shadow of Mircea Eliade and been influenced under Jonathan Z. Smith. In his aftermath, the researchers of religious studies in modern times should not categorize all phenomena into a single concept. Rather, they should change their direction by revealing the characteristics of each research subject and comparatively finding differences to identify them. That is, the perspectives regarding "religions over religion," "Judaisms over Judaism," "Christianities over Christianity," "Buddhisms over Buddhism," and "new religions over new religion" should be adopted in priority. The religious legacy of Smith, who insisted on further considering religions than religion, was accomplished due to Wilfred Cantwell Smith. If two Smiths have academic tendencies wherein squeezing all religions and religious phenomena into a Christian concept should be criticized and each religion needs more attention, such an academic aspect can be described as "Smith." Smith, one of the most common surnames in the West, refers to "blacksmith." In Canada, W. C. "Smith," who established a basis for the Koran and Korans, and the Bible and Bibles, existed. In America, Jonathan Z. "Smith," who solidified the groundwork for Judaism and Judaisms, and church and churches by stressing the difference between them, existed. |
