| Résumé: | This article deals with celebrities who comment on their faith. It is based on qualitative analysis of interviews given to magazines, web portals and books. Religiosity and spirituality of Polish celebrities is certainly a reflection of what happens in society as a whole (although the confirmation of particular differences would require quantitative research). In this community, there are very numerous attitudes typical for traditional faith which adhere to the doctrine of the Catholic church (or to other denominations). This is what distinguish Polish celebrities from their foreign counterparts. There are also many examples of admitting to Catholicism while rejecting the Catholic church as institution as well as examples of patchwork religiosity based on religious syncretism. What is also interesting among celebrities are atheistic attitudes which, however, assume some forms of spirituality, sometimes very elaborated ones. Since some time, another noticeable phenomenon has been that a considerable proportion of celebrities were in favor of traditional faith and emphasized their close connections with Catholicism or other Christian churches. |
