| Summary: | The article analyzes several problems related to saints in the history of Christianity. A very diverse group of saints is associated with different patterns of holiness. The basic of them was martyrdom and asceticism. In the text from the religious studies perspective, the author analyzed various lives and their similarities. The procedures of canonization were standardized only in the modern times of the Catholic Church. In contemporary thought, interested in the issue of sanctity, there are also statements of a non-confrontational character, analyzing the above matter. |
