| Zusammenfassung: | Kormák's Saga has often been scrupulously analyzed by scholars who aimed to define its date and the relation between a purported faulty prose text and the masterly verses in dróttkvætt. The numerous episodes concerning magic have also proved of great interest: they are often isolated occurrences with no other reference in the literary production of Medieval Iceland, and present therefore a puzzling question mark when we try to insert them in the social context of the time. The present article analyzes the terms related to magic in the saga and the excerpts refer-ring to witchery, maledictions, and supernatural creatures, alongside the relevant scholarly speculations. The episodes relating to magic give a sensible contribution in explaining the origin of Kormák's Saga and the context in which it was first compiled, in the light of a recent reassessment of oral tradition for a better understanding of the Íslendinga sögur.
