Zusammenfassung:In the Passio Olavi, an hagiographic legend about St. Óláfr from the second half of the twelfth century, the saint is referred to as an anointed king. Through comparison with other Saints' Lives and with the baptism of king Clovis i, this article suggests that for the authors of Passio Olavi the baptism of king Óláfr was like a royal unction, making him a christus Domini. Moreover, the Norwegian hagiographers could have known the French model directly thanks to the close relations that linked the Church of Nidaros to the abbey of St. Victor, Paris, during the twelfth century.
