| Summary: | In their attempts to determine the nature of religion, researchers often refer to the Latin term religio. At the same time, there are several variants of his translation (piety, reverence, conscientiousness, etc.), but, deducing this word from the Latin word religare (bind, bind), preference is given to its etymology, proposed by the Christian apologist Lactania (near 250 - after 325). Since then, religion has emerged as a means of communicating man with God in serving him and obedience through piety. We note that "religion in general" does not exist. Historically, there were and there are only some specific species, confessions. Religious scholars count more than five thousand of them. У своїх спробах визначитися в природі релігії дослідники частіше всього звертаються до латинського терміну religio. При цьому хоч і виявляється декілька варіантів його перекладу (благочестя, благоговійність, совістливість та ін.), але, виводячи це слово від латинського слова religare (пов'язувати, зв'язувати), перевага віддається його етимології, запропонованій християнським апологетом Лактанцієм (біля 250 - після 325). Відтоді релігія постала як засіб зв'язку людини з Богом в служінні йому і покорі через благочестя. Відзначимо, що «релігія взагалі» не існує. Історично існували й існують нині лише якісь конкретні її різновиди, конфесії. Релігієзнавці нараховують їх більше п’яти тисяч. |
