Description
Summary:We have resurfaced as promised! We hope you will enjoy our new Nidān December 2021 issue that contains a diverse range of articles exploring human-mediated, human-animal interactions, or the Anthropocene as we know it, through the medium of Indian folklore. As pointed out by our guest editor Lopamudra Maitra Bajpai, the articles of this issue are original, and all authored by women, focusing on Maharashtra (the Konkan coast), and the North-eastern states of Assam and Manipur. Our contributing scholars have proved adventurous, bold, and assertive in their scholarly outlook, and it has been a great pleasure to work with Anouska Tamuli, Sophia Lisam, Pranita Harad, and Anuja Patwardhan. Lopamudra has been a constant guide throughout this process of steering Nidān through submission procedures, and all the relentless reviewing and editing deadlines. This volume would have been impossible without her confident and efficient editorial presence. Pratap has remained my guru - a steadying, calm, and soothing presence of good-humoured encouragement and experience, ever prepared to help and listen. We thank our reviewers as well, without whose support and expertise, the editorial team could not have done justice to such a diverse range of submissions.
