Description
Résumé:Jihadist activity in Mali has increased in the last years, becoming the country one of the regions with highest levels of religious violence in the Muslim world. Due to the high death-rates and the increment of intensity of attacks, this research analyses the evolution of violence dynamics between 2014 and 2021. From a quantitative study about terror activity, jihadist actions have been analyzed. The article studies the main objectives, regions and characteristics of terrorist attacks in Mali. The results show an incremental trend, as well as a progressive unification of local groups, which later are in conflict with transnational organizations as Islamic State of Greater Sahara. Conclusions offer a connection between ethnic and geographic divisions in Mali, as provide policy recommendations and future research suggestions in religious violence.
