Zusammenfassung:Sayyid Quṭb was active in mobilising people for independence and eliminating foreign domination of Egypt. He took part in the 1952 revolution in which Jamāl ʿAbd al-Nāṣir rose to power with the predominant support of the Brotherhood. The success of the revolution that brought honour to him is withstanding, Sayyid Quṭb felt betrayed by the leaders of the 1952 Revolution and hence he decided to embark upon collective action by joining the Brotherhood. The ensuing conflict between the Brotherhood and the leaders of the Revolution eventually led to his detention for ten years and finally to his martyrdom.
