Description
Summary:In this article, I want to present the first results of the research linked to the Erasmus plus project Enable - Self-Learning for Arab speaking refugee children, which aims to support the school inclusion of Arab speaking refugee children through the mother-tongue language and the professionalization of mother-tongue educators, in the perspective of self-learning methodology. These first results concern the Arab minority in Italy and Calabria, and the school inclusion of this community’s children. I will analyse the presence of Arab speaking people in Italy and Calabria in a demographic perspective, looking at their nationality and genre, then I will do the same with the Arab speaking students in Italian school system. Another chapter will be dedicated to introduce the reception system for asylum seekers, with a focus on refugee children. At the end, I will describe the project workshops, especially the one that took place in Calabria.
