Description
Summary:Olav Hammer and Mikael Rothstein's The Cambridge Companion to New Religious Movements is a collection of 18 essays written about various topics related to New Religious Movements (NRMs) and about various movements themselves. The purpose of the work is to summarize the past 40 years of research on NRMs in a systematic and comparative manner while addressing information specific to individual movements—like Scientology, Neo-Pagans, and the Jihadist movement—that have caught the public's attention over certain periods of time., Following a brief introduction, the editors divide the essays into three parts. Part I, “Social Science Perspectives,” includes three essays from preeminent scholars of NRMs.
