Description
Résumé:At some point in the past century of religion scholarship, the notion that Pentecostals were “other-worldly” in their orientation unfortunately led to the expectation that they were unmotivated to engage in either politics or critical discourse. This indeed seemed to be true in the United States where classical Pentecostal groups were never the mainstream. Thankfully, however, this notion is dying a quick death. Wilkinson's edited volume puts another nail in the coffin. It includes fascinating case studies of how Pentecostal leaders and organizations have moved around the globe, debating the space between religion and culture, adopting and innovating on old themes to develop a religion that works.
