Summary:As a scholarly concept, the concept of State Shinto has been developing, especially after 1945, to refer to the prewar situation surrounding the support and management shrine matters by the state. Academic works are accumulating, both on the concept of State Shinto itself and on the elements that concretely constituted State Shinto. This essay will first summarize the scholarly institutions surrounding the researches related to State Shinto developed in the past fifteen years or so. Then it will try to give an overview of the related sites and facilities of State Shinto, elements that concretely constituted prewar State Shinto.
