| Zusammenfassung: | Esse artigo objetivou estudar a obra Arádia: o evangelho das bruxas, de Charles G. Leland, um dos textos fundadores do neopaganismo e da bruxaria moderna. A narrativa de Leland serviu como mito fundador para a wicca e a stregoneria, um livro sagrado que também influenciou outros textos destas duas religiões. Foi analisada neste estudo, em especial, a figura da deusa Arádia, descrita na obra como messias das bruxas, a filha enviada pela deusa Diana para ensinar a bruxaria aos pobres oprimidos. O artigo foi dividido em três momentos. Primeiramente o contexto histórico de produção da obra é introduzido. Na segunda seção, é abordada a estrutura e característica do livro sagrado. Por fim, a figura de Arádia é apresentada. This paper aimed to study Charles G. Leland’s Aradia, or the Gospel of the Witches, one of the founding texts of Neopaganism and modern witchcraft. Leland’s narrative served as the founding myth for Wicca and Stregheria, a sacred book that also influenced other texts in these two religions. In particular, this study analyzed the figure of the goddess Aradia, described in the book as the messiah of the witches, sent by her mother, the goddess Diana herself, to teach witchcraft to the oppressed poor people. This paper was divided into three moments. First, it is introduced the historical context of the production of the book. In the second section, the structure and charac-teristics of the sacred book are discussed. Finally, the figure of Aradia is presented. |
