Tive o privilégio de acompanhar sua carreira, seja como leitor permanente e fiel de Otavio enquanto autor/pesquisador, seja como aluno e orientando. Entre essas diversas atividades, há um fio condutor, articulando os temas variados aos quais se dedicou, conectando, de forma às vezes sutil e surpreendente, as aulas e orientações. O fio condutor é, a um tempo, formal e substantivo, por assim dizer. Define, portanto, o que se poderia designar como um “estilo” único, correspondente à sua original voz autoral, e à sua personalíssima escrita. O estilo não elimina as tensões e mudanças, pelo contrário, nutre-se delas e as toma como arche e telos. De início, a impressão que se tem é que os temas de algum modo se transformam, quando passam pela perspectiva aguda de Otavio - o que é verdade. Aos poucos, entretanto, descobre-se que é o autor que se transforma, ao transformar os temas com os quais “convive”. Finalmente, compreende-se que a matriz operadora é a mesma, sendo simultaneamente responsável por ambas as metamorfoses, do autor e do tema, em seu encontro perturbador e esclarecedor. Pretendo interpretar esta matriz, na mesa para a qual tive a honra de ser convidado. Otavio Velho’s work is so rich and inspiring as his teaching practice, especially his thesis advisory. I had the privilege to follow his career, both as a constant and regular reader, being author/researcher, and as learner and student. Among these diverse activities there is a course of action, articulating the variety of themes to which he has dedicated himself, connecting, sometimes subtilely and surprisingly, classes and advisory. The course of action is, simultaneously, one can say, formal and substantive. So it defines what one could designate an unique “style”, corresponding to his original authorial voice and to his so much personal writing. The style does not eliminate tensions and changes, on the contrary, it is nourished by them as arche and telos. Initially, the impression is that the themes somehow get transformed as they pass through Otavio’s acute perspective – and that is true. Gradually, however, one discovers that it is the author who transforms himself, by transforming the themes with which he is familiar. Finally, one comprehends that the operative matrix is the same, being simultaneously responsible for both metamorphoses, the author’s and the theme’s one, in their perturbing and clearing encounter. I want to interprete this matrix, at the table to which I was honored to be invited. |
