Summary: | Alcide De Gasperi spent a long period of imprisonment in Rome, between March 1927 and August 1928. In those years he wrote 60 letters, many of which addressed to his wife Francesca Romani, in which he reflected on the several challenges, of both political and religious type, determined by the detention condition. The Letters have an intimate, familiar, and spiritual character. In this article we will present these writings from a pedagogical point of view, highlighting some points where it emerges De Gasperi's aversion to the fascist conception of man, his love for freedom and justice, and his attachment with the humble and most vulnerable people. We will also meditate on how and in what terms these letters can educate us on good practices in politics and to the care of the common good. (English) |
