Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:This article shows and explains the different political positions and actions that the Catholic Church in Mexico has had throughout the twentieth century, culminating with the transition to democracy that the nation experienced in 2000. It is about the contemporary history of the Church-State relationships in Mexico. The central position of the author is that the Catholic Church in Mexico has not been an “ideological state apparatus”, by contrast, has played a role as auditor of public life, being a strong critic of the post-revolutionary political system, even becoming an agent who helped to establish in Mexico a competitive and plural party system.
