| Summary: | A proposta deste trabalho é investigar a “reinvenção” do papel feminino nas religiões de tradição africana no Recife. O contexto social analisado aponta para um processo de modernização decorrente das mutações da sociedade contemporânea, globalizada e informatizada. Aqui, chego à compreensão de que os processos de reafricanização, antissincretismo e intelectualização vivenciados em outros estados brasileiros repercutem no Recife, mas não com grande visibilidade. É apenas um, dentre muitos elementos que atuam no processo de hibridação e reconversão (utilizando os conceitos de Canclini) dos terreiros. É nesse movimento que a mãe de santo está aos poucos sendo reinventada ou “descoberta” na sua condição de mulher. The purpose of this study is to investigate the “reinven-tion” of the female role in the traditional African religions in Recife. The social context analyzed, points to a modernization process resulting from mutations of contemporary, globalized and compu-terized society. In this study, I understand that the processes of reafricanization, antissincretism and intellectualization, which were experienced in other states, reverberate in Recife, but not with great visibility. It’s just one among many elements that act in the process of hybridization and conversion (using the concepts of Canclini) of “terreiros”. It is this movement that the Candomble priestess is slo-wly being reinvented or “discovered” in their condition of woman. |
