As a result of this reading, the essay conceptualizes the limit of the State in terms of vocal gestures by examining the reality of the Qur'an as a vocal writing. It therefore suggests that one might rethink its untranslatability as the untranslatibility, not simply of a language, but of a vocal gesture. Eventually, the essay deploys an analysis of recent movements of protest as vocal acts. | ||
