Zusammenfassung:Little is know about attitudes toward suicide and how these attitutes interrelate with religious membership. A suicide opinion questionnaire was administered to two adult samples of church-going members of the Judaic and Christian religions. The results indicate statistically significant differences between Jews and Christians on 35 of the 100 SOQ items, and they are discussed in terms of 15 SOG factors. Attitudes toward suicide are quite complex and, despite religious proscriptions against suicide, do not follow a simple positive-negative dimension.
