Zusammenfassung:This study examines the confluence of free or moral agency in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church or Church) as it interacts in U.S. society with the First Amendment to the Constitution (freedom of the press and speech). The major finding of this study is that this control over choices, the responsibility to live by the consequences, is the bridge between free agency and the ability to report the news and speak our minds in a relatively free manner. The method for this study was interviewing conducted by graduate students in the Department of Communications at Brigham Young University of 19 individuals in the media who had knowledge of both First Amendment rights and the principles of free or moral agency in the religion of the Mormon Church.
