Description
Summary:With reference to life histories of the taalibe, Baay-fall, this article illustrates how Senegalese youth's engagement in this religious movement must, in part, be understood in terms of the invention of modernity via religious dynamics. Through the paradox of "subjectivation-emancipation", this process takes part in the reconfiguration of relations of domination and the construction of the self as a moral subject of a new society.
