Description
Résumé:The article argues that the true position of Islamic law on interest as practiced in today's economy cannot be correctly stated by simply recalling the Quranic ban on usury. What is also needed is an examination of the way in which the verses of the Quran prohibiting riba were applied, under changing monetary conditions, by Muslim jurists of the classical period. It is against this background of practice in the early Muslim era that the position of modern Muslim jurists as well as recent judicial decisions are put into a proper perspective. (DÜI-Asd)
