Description
Résumé:This article displays the inextricable link between Islam, Jihad and Palestine. The author shows how both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have sought to utilize the concept and technique of Jihad in the political context of the Intifada. The author concludes, that "their ability to use the concept in an appeal, not just in Palestine, but to the whole of the umma, to bring an end to Israeli occupation and to establish an Islamic state, will be an important factor in the ultimate success or failure of these groups, their role in the Intifada, and the future of Islamic struggle in the contemporary Middle East".
