Résumé: | Crosses and crucifixes in public buildings have been an issue for people and courts for a long time. There exist numerous publications dealing with religious symbols in state institutions; they are, however, written from a juridical perspective. The following contribution addresses a question seldom asked: how have young Muslim adults perceived cross and crucifix in the schoolroom during their childhood and how do they assess this phenomenon today. The qualitative analysis shows great variety in dealing with these experiences. All interviewees report having felt annoyance with the Christian symbols while in school. However, they disagree on the ways to deal with such a situation. |
