I felt initial disciplinary duties, of course, to the field of bioethics, wanting to bring the intensity and the passion of a new discipline and all our tumultuous questions to the fore. But so often, our questions are about singular dramas, one by one at the hospital bed, or in a particular lab, one disease, a particular cell, a particular viral vector.
