Zusammenfassung:"Textological variants of Christian prayers for newborns, mothers, childbirth, and also for helping during birth (for the day of the birth, and for the 8th and 14th days after the birth). South Slavic, Moldavian, and East Slavic Cyrillic manuscripts from the 14th-17th centuries are used as are printed Trebniks (liturgical book of prayers) from the end of the 15th to the first half of the 17th century. Slavic versions of the prayers are compared with medieval Greek and specific features of the translations are discussed. The reconstructed multiple translations and redaction interventions attest to the care of the Orthodox Church for the rites of mothers and newborns and to the attempt of Slavic scribes to provide Trebniks that are rich in structure and correct in content"--Translation of summary provided by Hilandar Research Library, The Ohio State University
