Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:This article draws on unpublished doctoral research which investigated the significance of Christianity for the spiritual and mental wellbeing of young Catholic, multi-ethnic Pacific women from a theological perspective. This qualitative research project focused on this cohort's individual images of God, what influenced these images of God and how these images can impact an individual's mental wellbeing. Findings from qualitative interviews of 64 Roman Catholic, mixed Pacific heritage aged 17-24-year-old women are discussed using a relational methodology. The article challenges the Church and families to reflect on how God is imaged throughout both positive and negative life events as these can have varying impacts on the mental wellbeing of young Pacific women, particularly in the context of an indigenous definition of mental wellbeing. It highlights the importance of indigenous worldviews in pastoral theological education and qualitative research practice.
