| Zusammenfassung: | ThispaperattemptstoinvestigatetheinfluenceofIslam’scultureonAfricanculture.IslamwasintroducedtotheAfricancontinentasearlyasthe7thcentury.Islamisnotjustareligionbutratheracomprehensivewayoflife.ThepeopleofAfricaembracedIslamduetothesuperiorityofitsculturetoAfricanculture.TheyembracedIslambecauseitisareligionofpeace,religionofmonotheismandliteracythatenabledrulerstobuildlargerkingdomsandempires.IslampromotedamoreefficientadministrationinsomeofthestatesofWesternSudansinceitenabledtherulerstoemployeducatedMuslimsassecretaries,judges,administratorsanddiplomats.TherulersofWesternSudanestablishedstrongdiplomaticrelationswithotherMuslimrulersabroadasMansaMusaandIdrisAloomadid.ThepaperalsoexplainsthetwinconceptofIslamiccultureandAfricancultureandthenprofferssomerecommendations.SomeoftherecommendationsarethatAfricanMuslimsshouldendeavourtomaintainthecultureofIslamwithoutallowingtheAfricanculturetoadverselyaffecttheirpracticeofIslam.Theyshouldshuntribalismandracialdiscrimination,butratherembracetheIslamicbrotherhoodwhichisall-encompassing and beneficial all. |
