Résumé:SystemofgovernanceisnotalienintheShariah.ThisservesasareasonwhyIslamisreferredtoasnotonlyareligionbutalsoacompletecomprehensivemanneroflife.Itestablishesauniquesystemofadministrationthatcoversallspectraoflifepolitically,economically,sociallyetc.Nigeria’sdemocraticsystemofgovernanceatthepresenteracallsforchangeintheoryandpractice.Thisamongothersisduetoincessantproblemsencounteredeverydaybythesystem.ThehistoricalsurveyofNigerianpoliticsistracedtopre-colonial,colonialandthepost-colonialeras.However,noneoftheerasisfavourabletoagoodsystemofadministrationthatcatersfortheneedsofthenation.DemocracytakesnewdimensioninNigerianpoliticalsystem.Inlieuofbeingthegovernmentofthebenefitsofthepeople;itservesasthesystemofadministrationthatischaracterisedwithoppressionofthemassesandsurvivalofthefittest.Asystemofgovernmentthatdisenfranchisesthefundamentalhumanrightsofthemassesandturnstheleadersagainsttheledwhoelectedthem.Byandlarge,thisworkiscarriedoutontheneedforchangefrompracticesofNigeriandemocracytodivinetheocracyasmechanismstocurbtheincessantproblemsthatassociatewiththeNigeriangovernance.HistoricalandIslamichermeneuticsareadoptedforeffectiveanalysisofthework.TheworkservesasanimpetustotheconceptofgovernanceintheShari‘ahandalsoprovidespanaceastocurbthemenaceofbadadministrationinthenation.Boththeprimaryandsecondarysourceswereemployedandsuggestions were put forward to the society en-mass on the needs to adopt Islamic theocracy.
