Résumé:TherateatwhichfilmsmultiplyinNigeriaisextraordinaryandthathascausedanunprecedentedinfluxofmorefilmmakers.Asaresult,thequantityoffilmsproducedintheYorùbálinguisticandculturalareaincreasesalarmingly.However,thisdoesnottranslatetothequalityofcontentsasmostfilmmakerspoorlyrepresentYorùbáreligion,cultureandtradition.Consequently,thishascalledfortheattentionofscholarsandcritics.Thispaperanalysesthisproblemandprofferssolutionusingthefilm,"Ṣawor oidẹ"asatemplate.Thisstudytracesthecauseoftheproblemtotheeffectsofcolonialismandeducatedeliteswhoare"uncomfortabletopromotethetraditionalnormsofintegrity,morality,hardwork[goodgovernance]andtheextendedfamilyfeeling"andwishtocontinuetobenefitfromthesavorousincentivesallottedtoforeignideas,makingmostcontemporaryYorùbápeopletofashiontheirlivesaftertheexamplesoftherulingaristocrats who show unrepentant stance of downgrading African Culture and Yoruba Culture to be specific.
