Zusammenfassung:This article intends to use what Canadian literary critic Northrop Frye stated regarding the Bible as "the great code" of art to propose an interpretation of John Landis’s movie The Blues Brothers (1980). The basic presssuposition of this article is that Landis’s movie follows the basic structure of three biblical stories (Exodus 3.1-10, Isaiah 6.1-8 and Acts of the Apostles 9.1-15) in which there is a manifestation of the holy, followed by a calling for a mission. The article presents some remarks about the relationship between movies and Bible, followed by a presentation of the movie itself. After this some considerations about three biblical stories of calling and vocation are presented, as we understand these stories provide the narrative thread followed by the movie. As a theoretical basis the article used mainly Roger Bastide’s idea of holy wild and the unspeakable element in the idea of the holy according to Rudolf Otto.
