Description
Résumé:The research is a reflection of the impact of a single pastor on an entire denomination. Vladimir Molchanov is not a bishop or a leader of a church association, nevertheless, the influence of his views and religious beliefs is still relevant in today’s Latvia. This research is dedicated to the trends in Baptist denomination in Latvia. The main research of this work includes the course of Pastor V. Molchanov’s life, the analysis of sermons and his religious identity, and its influence on Latvian Baptism. The work reflects the content of published, archival writings and periodicals, as well as unpublished materials. The quotations from the sermons included in this work reflect the theological idea of the Keswick movement. These aspects of the influence of the Keswick movement were revealed in the call for a holy life and a certain rigor regarding sin, the interpretation of biblical texts, submission to political pressure, and the desire to avoid conflict, the conviction and belief that through holy living and prayer it will be possible to duplicate the New Testament Pentecost and that it will be a true turning point of the entire life, and that faith will bring spiritual and political freedom.
