Yet we are also sadly conscious of the abuse of technological power, of human intelligence gone astray. Whether it be through climate change resulting from the burning of fossil fuels, the manipulation of IT or the overt and flagrant use of military technology, we are keenly aware of the destructive power of the abuse of technology. In this article I will be considering the challenge of deploying technological power for good, rather than harm, with particular focus on the reflections of Romano Guardini, who argued in his 'Das Ende der Neuzeit (The End of the Modern World)' that 'human beings have power over things, but do not yet have power over their own power'. | ||
