Résumé: | This article addresses the relationship forged among discrimination, freedom of religion and immigration through the political discourse in the European and national arenas. In Spain the legal recognition of religious diversity took place in the 90s, coinciding the growth of the Muslim communities with the immigration. This fact leads to Islam being wrongly considered a foreign populations’ religion. The local migratory arena shows, on the one hand, Muslim migrants’ integration strategies involving religious nature associations and, on the other hand, the debate with the unexpected-protagonist local governments on its worship needs. |
