Zusammenfassung: | In our multicultural world, the counselor must provide a safe environment within which the client’s recognition of healthy and unhealthy beliefs are facilitated. Communications between counselor and client depend critically on the faith narrative each has developed over time from the brain’s natural inclination to organize and interpret accumulated personal experience. It is crucial for the culturally competent counselor to have a thorough ownership of his or her own faith narrative. This article describes the author’s use of journaling to provide a framework for self-analysis within his personal faith narrative in an attempt to grow in cultural awareness and humility. |
