Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Using the 1978 Gallup unchurched American survey, this paper examines the relationship of religiosity (in several dimensions) to denominational switching. The basic relationships were weak, but consistent with previous research, at least for the dimensions of ritual participation and religious experience. In both cases, switchers were more religious than stayers. Additional analysis looked into this relationship among the sub-populations of evangelicals and non-evangelicals, and also into religious socialization during childhood. Support was found for a view of the switcher as a convert.
