This paper challenges this view of things on grammatical and narratological grounds, arguing that even though some shifts take place in Jn. 19:16, the narrative of Jesus' trial in fact continues – against the background of the crucifixion – until Jn. 19:22, after which the narrative undergoes a much clearer shift in focus and theme from Jn. 19:23 onwards. This leads to the conclusion that not Pilate's handing over of Jesus in Jn. 19:16, but rather his statement in Jn. 19:22, 'What I have written I have written', upholding his 'proclamation' of Jesus as King of the Jews, is his final verdict on Jesus.\n4207 Traditionnellement, Jn 19,16 est divisé en deux parties, la première étant la fin du jugement de Jésus, et la seconde le début du récit du crucifiement, – faisant ainsi nettement la distinction entre condamnation et exécution. L’article s’inscrit en faux contre cette perspective, pour des raisons grammaticales et narratologiques. Nous pensons que, même si quelques changements se trouvent en Jn 19,16, le récit du jugement de Jésus en fait continue, avec la crucifixion à l’arrière-plan, jusqu’à Jn 19,22. Après, à partir de Jn 19,23ss., le récit change plus nettement d’orientation et de thématique. Ceci mène à la conclusion que ce n’est pas Jésus livré par Pilate (19,16), mais l’affirmation de Pilate en v. 22, «Ce que j’ai écrit, je l’ai écrit» – laquelle soutient sa «proclamation» de Jésus comme Roi des Juifs –, qui est le verdict final de Pilate sur Jésus.\n4207 \n4207 | ||
