Résumé: | Celibacy, or the “celibacy crisis,” is one of the issues raised in both the recent wave of Roman Catholic priest sex abuse scandals as well as in the earlier (mid-1980–1990s) wave. A. W. Richard Sipe, former Benedictine priest and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine lecturer in psychotherapy (now married and semi-retired in private practice), has been following celibacy and other sexual matters concerning Roman Catholic priests for close to four decades, authoring or co-authoring a number of books (clinical and historical) on the subject. |
