This relationship is justified with a theological argument (God is logos), an anthropological argument (the human being is capable of finding the truth), and a historical one (Christianism as radical enlightenment). To make this encounter possible, Benedict XVI considers that the University must be really «Universitas», that is to say, a place open to dialog with the cultures from the amplitude of reason, in whose midst can be found a real space for theology in its proper and specific sense. The only authority that can be admitted by the University is the faithful and committed search for the truth. | ||

Esta relación viene justificada desde un argumento teológico (Dios es logos) antropológico (el hombre es capaz de verdad) e histórico (el cristianismo como ilustración radical). Para hacer posible este encuentro Benedicto XVI considera que la tarea principal de la Universidad es ser realmente «Universitas», es decir, lugar y espacio abierto al diálogo con las culturas desde la amplitud de la razón, en cuyo seno pueda haber espacio real para la teología en sentido propio y específico. La única autoridad que la universidad debe admitir en su seno es la búsqueda comprometida y apasionada por la verdad. | ||
